Some might say staying in 9th college damn good, more freedom, got kfc some more. But just see aimay so gik dong until every week also cant wait to run back home, clearly shows that there is a boundary to its ‘good’. Undeniable, our college’s facilities are really so so ~ but this current condition actually serves for a good purpose ~~
1st: Our room
The very first step in the room, my feeling is like “Gosh, don’t tell me I have to stay in this filthy cage.” After few days, I realize this cage also quite similar to my room in some ways:
Hostel (H) vs My room (M)
1. Walls
(H) 4 walls painted in white with black stains (in other words it may be regarded as artistic)
(M) 4 walls painted in yellow (oh so lame) *H win
2. Size : Almost the same *Fair
3. Occupants : (H) 3 (more people merrier ma)
(M) 1 (lonely, talk to the wall sometimes) *H win
4. Smell : (H) Smell of shoes overcome my body fragrance
(M) Completely my body fragrance (hehe) *M win
Surprisingly, hostel has more advantages after a detailed analysis.
2nd: Washroom
4 bathrooms and 4 toilets in a floor for the use of 20+ human. First time when I want to use the bathroom and they were occupied, I started to complain “ How come they bath for so long as if they have so many parts to wash!” And when the toilets are occupied “ Take so long time they think the whole floor only they have shit is it!!” After few times of the same experience, I stop complaining (lazy to complain). See! In a way, patience and tolerance developed.
3rd: Food
My first time dealing with fish, quickly I made a call to mama.
Me: Mama! Today’s dinner only fish and vege. Yo, no soup no chicken, how to eat? And the fish a lot of bones de lo~~
Mama : So cham meh.. Today I fried chicken wings le, stil got some leftover, gotta feed doggie tomolo
Me: …….
Hence, college food makes me realize my mama’s cooking actually comparable to chef of 5 star hotel. Every weekends, I could feel myself dining in Shangrila tasting the Asian cuisine prepared by Chef Yee. Again college cultivates the value of ‘appreciation’.
There is once my UKM friend came to college to pick me home. Knowing that the canteen will serve rendang ayam for dinner, I decided to pack it home to show my mama the best food of the week! But when my friend saw my precious chicken, his respond is “ Yucks! This is my dog’s food.” Feeling with anger I replied “Your dog takes rendang ah? Is the dog looks like you?” Here, we can see just what others are lacking compared to us. Be contented and appreciated our chicken is what we can learn solely in 9th college. (Applause!)
In conclusion, our college is really ‘yong xin liang ku’, provides the worst facilities with the best purpose. Among so many lessons that I have learnt, the most valuable one is non other than positive thinking, learn to view a bad situation from a good perspective. Thus be thankful to 9th college that leads us to become a more ‘wholesome’ person.
